About Duane
Duane’s curiosity about exploring the world began in early childhood. An upbringing on a rural farm in a conservative Mennonite home provided a stable childhood with so very many far away horizons to explore. A very rewarding career with Habitat for Humanity resonated with a passion to be useful and improve the lives of others.
Duane lives near Philadelphia with his wife, Ruth and near their three adult children and eight grand kids. He calls this retirement era “Career 2.0” and stays very busy writing and recording a dozen songs a year, leading a half dozen or more international house building trips with Habitat for Humanity and other organizations, slipping on a tool belt and doing minor repairs for friends and family, making personal pan pizzas in cast iron skillets for their grand kids, reading twenty or more non-fiction books a year and walking international hiking trails including the Camino de Santiago and crossing the two thousand year old Roman bridge in the pic above near Sarria, Spain eight times.
